Explore St. Pete Aboard a Private Floating Tiki Bar

As a water bearing aquarius, my spirit has always beckoned me to the sea. Like many of us, I’ve felt myself nudged deeper into the arms of nature as a result of the pandemic. I’ve always lived in close proximity to the beach, but my move to St. Pete, Florida has inspired a new closeness to my oceanic surroundings. Most likely due to the convenient access to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country (only minutes from downtown).

With the excuse to celebrate some personal milestones, we reached out to Florida Tiki Tours, who so graciously helped coordinate the floating tiki-boat day of my dreams! An experience which would be perfect for girl’s getaways, bachelorette crews, birthday fun and just about any special cause for celebrating that you can think of. The tiki-tour is your very own floating Hawaiian-style fantasy boat, stocked with a captain and room for you and up to five of your closest few. The best part is that you can on-board your own cooler full of your favorite drinks and snacks to enjoy while cruising and connect your phone to the bluetooth speakers for the perfect tunes.

Arrival was a breeze, as you can literally park your car steps away from the dock and board with ease. Our Captain John greeted us with face mask in tow at the marina and loaded us into our private floating-tiki.

He kicked us off with some Thunderstruck by ACDC, as we mixed our own gin cocktails while embarking to Boca Ciega Bay. Captain John was our very own historian, tour guide and hype man, who made sure that we laid eyes on every dolphin and stingray that greeted our boat and provided us with fun facts on just about every cool landmark in view. We blared rock n’ roll, played drinking games, honked at fellow boaters and tiki-goers and got to chill-out on the sandbar and take in the scenic views.

We finished off the afternoon with the tangerine sunset setting over Tampa Bay, while we noshed on pineapple and listened to Cheeseburger in Paradise by Jimmy B. It was a perfect day full of sunshine and excitement, and I was so thankful that I was able to enjoy a unique and fun-filled experience during a time of heightened stress. We all have a need to connect with one another and we have to continue supporting those local establishments that safely allow us to do this.

If I could ride the tiki-boat every day I totally would, so if you’re about to book your own private Florida Tiki Tour in Tampa Bay, make sure to take LOTS of pictures and to tag #GALALife in every single one! I promise, you’re totally gonna feel like a cheeseburger in paradise too.

Remember to always keep (safely) galavanting (on the seas when possible)! xx Alexia
