The Best Holiday Party Looks 2020

2020 has certainly been the year of cozy chic. With increased time at home, we were all forced to give into the rise of athleisure, comfy sweaters, pajamas and lots of yoga gear (even if yoga wasn’t happening for us). The fashion overlords can’t blame us for this, as considering all of the stress and anxiety we’ve endured, the last thing we need is an added layer of structure and discomfort to make us feel additional physical restriction.

Let’s face it, we all need a hug this year and what better way to feel perpetually embraced while working from home than by wearing an oversized fuzzy cardigan?!

However, as a lover of fashion and a reason to dress up, I’m about ready to dust off my stilettos and slip back into a bodycon dress — I even kind of, sort of, miss having an excuse to wear spanx.

Along with reuniting with loved ones and sharing some much needed family time, holiday season 2020 will finally be our moment to get dressed up and glam out. I also feel like many of our personal styles have evolved during pandemic months, considering all of the media that we’ve been consuming, and we obviously haven’t had the opportunity to go full-out in showcasing new looks that we may have planned out in our closets at home.

I’m personally super excited to play with styles that I’ve been wanting to explore, but haven’t had a chance to show off this year. I mean, what’s fashion if not showcasing your personal style and taking some risks?

So my question to you is, whether you’re celebrating Chanukah, Christmas or just looking fab on New Year’s Eve, what party type of style will you be showing off this year? Are you more sparkly glam or monochrome minimalist? Are you ready to dabble with some trends or whip out your favorite holiday-inspired looks?

I’m ready to try them all and turn some socially-distant heads with my favorite gala-worthy looks of the year!!

Glam

I love that with the end of the year we get an excuse to show off our glitziest glam. Whether holiday parties, dinner dates or a NYE bash, now is the time to eschew all sartorial inhibitions and get your sparkle on with one of these showstopping looks you can shop below!

Chic

A holiday staple, the little red sheath dress will always keep folks turning heads (especially any sharks trying to bite your head off).

Boho Chic

There’s something about all of the imminent stress and tension that we’re feeling these days that has us seeking a more ethereal aesthetic. The experts from the Pantone Color Institute agreed with this and debuted 10 shades that are “illustrative of nature—hues “coupled with new core classics” that “come together to create a palette inspiring ingenuity and inventiveness.” With cheery marigold and calming mint ranked as top colors, it’s no surprise that the collective aesthetic is shifting from the oversaturated hues of 2020 to more calm, naturalistic and soothing tones.

Trendy

With many of us leaning into our creativity this year, it’s no surprise that the master’s of the fashion world have cultivated some super funky trends — inspired by the isolation and restriction that we’ve all been feeling, you’ll feel free to channel your inner avant garde with some of these whimsical pieces and throwbacks to silhouettes and designs of fashion’s finest decades.

Comfy Cute

If you’re being forced to celebrate at home and away from family as you normally would, you totally get a pass on the formal wear this year. However, this doesn’t mean toss on some sweat pants and call it a day — you’ve still got to put in the work sis and thee looks will have you looking like you did!

Hope the #GALAGuide to Holiday party looks helped you shop THE celebratory outfit of your 2020 dreams! Or atleast inspire you to step out of your literal comfort zone and try something new that you’ve been itching to try.

Remember to always keep galavanting (and live every week like it’s shark week)!! xx Alexia
