The Perfect Mother–Daughter Weekend in St. Pete

A Central Avenue itinerary filled with books, boutiques, tapas, disco, and art.

There’s something really special about showing your mom the places you love most in your city. St. Petersburg has become one of my favorite places to explore, and for a recent mother–daughter weekend, we packed in some of the most charming, delicious, and creative stops around Central Avenue and downtown St. Pete.

From cozy bookstores and boutique shopping to Northern Spanish tapas and disco dancing, this itinerary turned into the perfect blend of culture, food, fashion, and fun.

Here’s exactly how we spent our weekend.

A Cozy Start at The Book Lounge

We kicked off the day at The Book Lounge, easily one of the coziest new spots in St. Pete. Part bookstore, part coffee lounge, it’s the kind of place you walk into and instantly want to stay awhile.

The shelves are filled with thoughtfully curated reads, and the atmosphere feels warm, creative, and welcoming—perfect for a slow morning start. My mom loved browsing the selections while we caught up over coffee before heading out to explore the city.

If you’re a book lover visiting St. Pete, this stop is a must.

Central Avenue Boutique Shopping

From there, we made our way down Central Avenue, which is easily one of the most vibrant streets in Tampa Bay for shopping.

Our first stop was Zazoo’d, a longtime local favorite known for its eclectic mix of art pieces, home décor, and unique finds. It’s the kind of store where every corner has something interesting and unexpected.

Next, we popped into Shoreline Sugars, where we found some adorable spring outfits. The boutique has a light coastal aesthetic that feels very “Florida chic,” and it’s the perfect place to pick up something fun for a weekend out.

Vintage Treasures at Art Pool Vintage

One of the most special stops of the day was Art Pool Vintage, a vintage shop owned by a mother–daughter duo.

It felt especially fitting for our weekend together. The shop is filled with carefully curated vintage pieces, art, and accessories, and you can tell so much love goes into the space. If you enjoy vintage fashion or one-of-a-kind finds, this is a hidden gem worth discovering.

Dinner: Northern Spanish Tapas at Barra Barra

For dinner, we headed to Barra Barra, a special pop-up hosted at Baba.

The concept focuses on Northern Spanish tapas, and it was the perfect place for our evening meal—especially because my mom had just traveled through Northern Spain and was excited to revisit some of those flavors.

From beautifully prepared small plates to the cozy atmosphere, it felt like a little culinary trip back to Spain right in the heart of St. Pete.

Disco Dancing at Good Night John Boy

Of course, no fun night out in St. Pete is complete without a little dancing.

After dinner we headed to Good Night John Boy, a retro-inspired disco bar where the music is all throwbacks and the dance floor is always lively. Between disco hits, karaoke moments, and late-night bites, it was the perfect way to end the evening.

Sunday Funday in St. Pete

The next morning started with coffee at Concrete Jungle, a great little spot to recharge after a fun night out.

From there, we stopped by Eat Art Love, which was hosting a flower and Bad Bunny–themed pop-up brunch—a colorful and creative way to kick off the day.

Finally, we wrapped up the weekend exploring FloridaRAMA, St. Pete’s immersive art experience filled with interactive installations and vibrant creativity.

It was the perfect ending to a weekend filled with discovery.

Why St. Pete is Perfect for a Girls’ Weekend

What I love most about St. Pete is how easy it is to create a weekend like this. Everything—from boutique shopping to incredible restaurants and art experiences—is within walking distance.

Whether you’re planning a mother–daughter trip, a girls’ getaway, or just a fun weekend exploring Tampa Bay, St. Pete always delivers something new and exciting.

And honestly, sharing these moments with my mom made it even more special.
